YD skate shoes 2018
This project was the culmination of a yearlong project in designing a wide skateboarding shoe. It was a project of many firsts. Unfortunately many of the process images from this project were lost to time. It was one laptop and at least 3 phones ago.

making a custom last was important to learning more about wide feet. It was designed by tracing 20 peoples feet and finding similar foot shapes for people with wide feet.

with Skate shoes it's important to remember that skateboard griptape is equivalent to 80-100 grit sandpaper, that is constantly wearing down the riders shoes. The good news is that the wear patterns are consistent among riders. a-symmetrical designs were something I was drawn to.
For some of the sketches I took photos of the last and drew over pictures of it for the pattern ideation. I then traced them into illustrator
